Where in the country do you work?
I work all over the UK and I’m based in the North West.
How long have you been photographing theatre and live performance?
I worked in theatre for 20 years before becoming a full time photographer. I’ve been photographing theatre and live performance for the past 12 years.
Having working in theatre as a Stage Manager for a lot of my professional life I like to think I understand the pressures on actors and production staff.
I understand how theatre works and that experience is invaluable when photographing shows I haven’t seen before - anticipating the moment to get the photograph.
What do I get?
The majority of theatres no longer need physical prints for Front of House display so I deliver full resolution and web sized digital files of my photography. For a two act show I generally deliver between 60 - 90 photographs that tell the story of that production, always with a mind on what will be useful to promote the show now and what will be useful in the future to promote the theatre.
How long till I get the photos?
As I’m often photographing the final Dress Rehearsal turnaround times have to be fast in order to get images for social media and reviews. I get photos across to you by midday the following day.
Do you photograph rehearsals as well as the performance?
Absolutely - if that’s what you need I do a package to include both.
How are photographs delivered to me?
As everything is usually time sensitive I will send digital files across via an FTP service such as Dropbox or WeTransfer. If you require a physical disc/USB of everything as well let me know.
